“do your practice and all is coming” Patthabhi Jois

Yoga helps us find balance and better navigate the turbulence of life.

I have found that through my own practice I have a better understanding of who I am and what I am capable of.  The stillness in the those quiet moments at the end of the practice give me the space to see the world and myself with greater clarity.

Come and practice with me at Catalpa Wellness Center.  Every class will include asanas with breath awareness, pranayama, savasana, and meditation.

I have always been interested in wellness and healing.  I am a traditionally trained Nurse Practitioner with a long and broad experience in treating patients with Western Medicine.   I first practiced yoga before I became a nurse practitioner.  I came back to the practice fifteen years ago and began an in-depth study of yoga philosophy through immersive experiential programs and formal courses-work.  I was fortunate to have studied under two very wise and knowledgeable teachers, Ganga White and Everette Newell.

Eventually, these two disciplines, yoga and medicine, melded in my medical practice.  I began to recognize that some of the methods of yoga might be beneficial to my patients that were suffering from stress and anxiety. We all know that stress is a part of everyone’s life but unabated stress, over time, can lead to illness.  I wanted to empower my patients by providing them with the tools that would help them to become more focused and calm and less anxious and agitated. Western medicine has begun to recognize the validity and importance of adjunctive therapies such as yoga, somatic quieting and meditation and its impact on overall health.

I teach yoga because I believe that this ancient wisdom tradition is still very relevant today.   Yoga’s methods offers a path towards equanimity, self understanding and wholeness.
